Lego Robotics Day:
Building, Coding and Competing

Next Lego Robotics Day 8th January 2025

Join us for an exciting day of hands-on learning and creative exploration at our Robotics Fun Day! This workshop is designed for budding engineers and tech enthusiasts eager to dive into the world of robotics. We'll start the day by introducing participants to the basics of LEGO Spike Prime and the Scratch programming language, perfect tools for building and coding your very own robots.

Once everyone is comfortable with the basics, we’ll move on to the creative challenge of the day: designing and building your own robotic fairground ride! Using LEGO Spike Prime, you'll bring your ideas to life, learning key engineering concepts along the way.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! In the afternoon, we'll take things up a notch with a thrilling Sumo Robot competition. Participants will be teamed up in pairs to foster communication and team-building skills as they design, build, and program their robots to compete in the ring. This is a great opportunity to develop collaboration skills while having a blast!

All LEGO Robotics kits will be supplied. Be sure to capture the highlights of your creations throughout the day—taking photos of your work is encouraged!

Whether you're new to robotics or have some experience, this workshop is packed with fun, learning, and friendly competition. Don’t miss out on this chance to explore the fascinating world of robotics and see your creations in action!

Electronic Detox Retreat

SESSIONS AVAILABLE WITHIN THE 2025 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

WATCH THIS SPACE

An electronic detox retreat is a structured getaway designed to help participants disconnect from digital devices such as smartphones, computers, and tablets in order to reduce their dependence on technology. These retreats aim to foster mindfulness, mental clarity, and a deeper connection with nature, self, and others by creating an environment free from digital distractions. They often take place in tranquil, natural settings and offer a variety of activities to encourage relaxation, self-reflection, and personal growth.

1. Purpose of an Electronic Detox Retreat
   - Digital Detox: The main goal is to break away from the constant presence of technology, which can contribute to stress, anxiety, sleep problems, and reduced attention spans. By cutting off access to devices, participants can focus on mindfulness, relaxation, and real-world interactions.
   - Mental and Emotional Reset: Constant connectivity to social media, work emails, and the internet can lead to information overload and burnout. These retreats help people reset their mental and emotional health by encouraging more time for self-care, introspection, and rest.
   - Increased Mindfulness: Without the distraction of screens, participants are guided to be more present in the moment. This includes mindful eating, walking, and other activities that promote awareness of the present experience.

2. Structure and Activities
   - Tech-Free Environment: Upon arrival, participants are asked to surrender their electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops). The retreat organizers will lock them away in a secure location for the duration of the stay, ensuring that the space is entirely free of digital interference.
   - Mindfulness and Meditation: Many retreats focus on teaching mindfulness practices, including meditation, yoga, or breathwork. These activities help participants reconnect with their bodies and minds without distractions.
   - Nature Immersion: Eucalypt Therapy retreats are located in the hinterland of the Gold Coast where participants are encouraged to spend time outdoors, engage in hiking, forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), or simply enjoy the natural surroundings. Nature helps soothe the mind and reduce the stress caused by constant screen time.
   - Workshops and Journaling: Participants may attend workshops on topics like stress reduction, mindful living, or creativity. Journaling is often encouraged as a way to process thoughts and emotions without relying on digital devices. These sessions also focus on addiction to electronic devices and how to assist with negative symptoms that may stem from this.
   - Physical Activities: All participants will engage in fun filled outdoor activities that challenge both the body and mind.
   - Creative Outlets: Eucalypt Therapy retreats incorporate creative workshops like painting, drawing, music, or writing. These activities give participants the chance to engage in non-digital forms of expression.
   - Healthy Eating: Eucalypt Therapy's retreats focus on nutrition as part of the detox experience, offering wholesome, balanced meals that encourage mindful eating. Participants may even be introduced to practices such as eating in silence to deepen their awareness of food and the body’s sensations.

3. Benefits of an Electronic Detox Retreat
   - Mental Clarity: By stepping away from the constant barrage of notifications, social media feeds, and emails, participants often experience clearer thinking, increased focus, and reduced mental fatigue.
   - Reduced Stress and Anxiety: The absence of technology-related stress, combined with mindfulness practices, can lead to lower levels of anxiety and stress. Being disconnected allows participants to slow down, breathe, and focus on their well-being.
   - Improved Sleep: Electronic devices, especially screens, can interfere with sleep by disrupting natural circadian rhythms. An electronic detox retreat allows participants to restore healthy sleep patterns, resulting in better rest and recovery.
   - Stronger Interpersonal Connections: Without phones and devices acting as barriers, participants often engage more deeply with those around them, building meaningful connections with other attendees. Conversations and shared experiences are enriched without the distractions of texting or social media.
   - Increased Self-Awareness: Digital detox retreats encourage participants to turn their attention inward, facilitating self-reflection. Without the external distractions of the digital world, participants can more easily assess their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, leading to greater self-awareness and personal insight.
   - Healthier Relationship with Technology: After completing the retreat, participants may feel empowered to create boundaries with technology in their daily lives. They may implement regular tech-free times, like screen-free mornings or digital-free weekends, to maintain the benefits gained during the retreat.

4. Who Can Benefit from an Electronic Detox Retreat?
   - Eucalypt Therapy's Electronic Detox retreats are targeted towards people aged between 12 to 25.

Our electronic detox retreat offers a structured, supportive environment to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the self, nature, and others. By stepping away from the constant barrage of technology, participants gain mental clarity, emotional balance, and the skills to create healthier relationships with their devices after the retreat ends. This can be privately funded or through NDIS core funding.
